Capitalist Thought of the Week
If you want to live in a capitalist society, that means you want to live in a tribeless society where the individual is the most important entity in the world. That means you folks, you are the captain of your own destiny. You are the king of your own castle. Nobody can tell you what to do or how to do it. Your property is your own. The disposal of your property is your own. Your life is your own. That means you have full moral agency. That's the kind of world we want.
Is it a world that provides perfect equality? Nope. But you benefit from that imperfect equality. People who are better than you and more energetic than you, better than you in the sense that they're more talented, better than you in the sense that they have more energy, more entrepreneurial skill, those people will help you. Why? Because in order for them to get rich, they have to trade those values with you and more likely than not, those values will be more important to you than the dollar you have in your pocket, and you will be better off as a result.
The world of capitalism is not a lose-win world. It's not a zero-sum game. It is a win-win scenario all the way around, and the rich get richer, of course, but the poor get richer too. That's the world in which we want to live.
